Zayn Malik while talking exclusively to British newspaper The Sun, said that his decision to say goodbye to his former band “One direction” was "crazy and wild and a bit mad. But at the same time I've never felt more in control in my life. I feel like I'm doing what's right -- right by myself and right by the boys, so I feel good."
Malik further told The Sun’s Dan Wootton that he willingly took the decision in order to achieve his feat personally:
"I did try to do something that I wasn't happy doing for a while, for the sake of maybe other's people's happiness. And that was mainly the fans. I only ever tried to do it for the fans. I'm only upset [because] I feel like I may have let them down in some sort of way,"
The 22 year old Bradford-born vocalist also added that: "That's the main thing that I don't want to happen. It's not that I've turned my back on them or anything. It's just that I can't do that anymore because it's not real to me."
Denying the speculations that there was a brawl between him and his fellow group members “Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne”, Malik said they were very supportive as he currently working in a London recording studio with popular British Producer Naughty Boy on his solo debut.
Dan Wootton asked he’d consider returning to One Direction someday, he said: "I really don't know if I can answer that. I don't know."
We wish him the very best in his career!!!
