Singer Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke to pay $7.4m to Marvin Gaye's family over Blurred Lines

A Los Angeles Jury awarded R&B Legend - Marvin Gaye’s children nearly $7.4m on Tuesday after concluding that singer Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams copied their father’s 1970’s hit song to create #Blurred Lines which turned out to be 2013 biggest hit song.

Marvin Gaye’s daughter Nona Gaye after the verdict was read had this to say:
“Right now, I feel free,” Nona Gaye said after the verdict. “Free from ... Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke’s chains and what they tried to keep on us and the lies that were told.”

The Jury’s verdict is capable of defaming Pharrell, who happens to be a multiple Grammy Award winner. Nevertheless Thicke and William’s attorney disclosed that the Jury’s verdict in favour of Gaye’s family will in no time have a bad effect on artists who intend to appreciate the works of former hit makers.

Although Rapper T.I who was also featured on the Blurred Lines songs was in no way indicated in the law suit. Busch, Lawyer to the Gaye’s family defended his claims as he branded Pharrell Williams and Thicke as liars who went ahead of trying to follow the sound of Gaye’s late-1970s music and copied the R&B legend’s hit Got to Give It Up outright.
